Open Mics in Asheville, NC
Summoning poets, storytellers, spoken word artists, musicians, singers, comics, jesters, interpretive dancers, live painters, people with something to say, and--of course--listeners, Poetry Open Mic hosted by Caleb Beissert convenes every Wednesday night at the kava bar on Eagle Street in downtown Asheville.
Please join us for what promises to be a rousing evening of free artistic enlightenment in an intimate, relaxing, yet curious setting. The microphone will open promptly at nine in the evening and continue until zero hour.
This is Asheville's most eclectic, longest running weekly open mic. It is a space where both the accomplished and the young artist can share their work with others regularly. This is a mic for serious writers and other artists who like to have fun and be part of an artistic community.
PA with available direct inputs will be provided. Please keep performances to a 10-minute maximum. May contain explicit language and nudity. Anything goes as long as it's within 10 minutes and doesn't hurt anybody. Drunk hecklers will not be tolerated.
Bring your own instrument if you wish to perform. Be sure to arrive early and sign up to ensure a spot.
No cover charge.
Sign-ups at 7
As courtesy to other performers, try to keep your set-up simple or have a plan to set-up and break down after the open-mic is over!
