I've hit many of the open mikes around Boston. I play a different style of guitar, influenced heavily by Michael Hedges and an unknown local musician from 20 years ago, Michael Andrew Frank. Tap-style, ambidextrous, with both hand tapping, strumming, picking off, hammering down, muting and fretting about the fret board.
