As the host the every first Wed, I can only speak to the situation on my nights, but definitely there are no earplugs! There is a house band, - AmyG Funk - not P-funk, but AMYG FUNK! but you do not have to use us, acoustic originals are welcome! Another option is to bring a chart or tell us the chords and we'll play your original tune with you, we're all professional educated musicians. We do this regularly, as well as covers - live hip-hop, Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin, Amy Winehouse (aka the OTHER Amy)classic rock, etc. etc. etc. The most important goal for me is for all guests to have a positive experience both on stage and off. NETWORKING - people, it's about the networking - performers at my open mics have been discovered and cast in off-Broadway shows, have had the opportunity to perform for the A&R's from demoshoppers.com, Sony, radio stations and more! Looking for a bass player, or a studio to record in? Chances are you will hook up with the right person here. It's true, there is no cover. However, I think it is not stressed enough here that this is not an ideal place for the gentler singer/songwriters among us. Also, it should be mentioned that they do not necessarily play in sign-up order. If you want to sing or play with a rockin' house band, this is where you go. Emphasis on the "rockin" - the bartender had earplugs. Bring some. It's really loud.

Every Wednesday night there is a different open mike host or hostess for the evening. For information about hosting-contact me at the above address. There is never a cover, unless the host/hostess of the evening is charging one. Even then, if you're a performer and you wish to come and not pay a cover-mention my name, and I'll see to it that you do not have to pay. You will be my guest. All acts are welcome-from comedy to acoustic acts, to playing with a full band or by yourself. Hey, it's open mike! We have a really creative response-come and check it out. It's a lot of fun.

Not always a cover, and sometimes it's open acoustic, sometimes there's a band, sometimes it's hip-hop. Best to call before you come to find out which it is.
