The Gutter Mouth Open Mic is a Lottery Style system. Comics sign up by putting their names in a bucket anytime between 8:00 pm and 8:30 pm.

At 8:30, all the names are pulled out one by one to determine the order in which the comedians will perform. Once the order is completed, the show starts.

The open mic must end at 11:30 pm, so only the 1st 30 comedians are guaranteed to perform. If 30 comics perform prior to 11:30 pm, then we move to the alternate list

(those comedians who were pulled 31 and higher) and allow as many comics to perform as possible before 11:30 pm.

Each comedian get 3 and a half minutes to perform. the "light" is given at 3 minutes. Once you receive the "light" please wrap up your set.

Whats the Atmosphere like:

The Gutter Mouth Open Mic is best described as a Work Out Room open mic. Comedians are encouraged to find material, rather than rehearse material.

The Gutter Mouth Open Mic does not draw a large non-comic audience, so most of the people you perform in front of is other comics.

The Host, me Bill Cruz, is a Long Standing comedian in Chicago and enjoys hearing new material.

The mic is loose, non-censored, and a lot of fun. Perfect for new to towners, just staring comics, and Veterans looking to riff. Its also a great place to network.

Rules:

* Do not text the host to put you in the bucket. Either be there between 8 and 8:30 or you can have a fellow comic put your name in the bucket.

* If your name is in the bucket more than once, you will receive the position of the 2nd time your name is pulled. Your position of the 1st time your name is pulled will go to the following comic pulled.

* You may not switch positions with another comic, unless that comic agrees.

* If a comic is not in attendance at the time their position is called, the entire list moves up, and that comedian will be placed at the end of the order (if they then show up).
