- I've been going to the open mikes for the past two weeks and have found it to be something i look forward to through out the week! It's full of some of the coolest most genuine and creative people. Everyone is so welcoming and it pulls together creativity from all walks of life. the Jam box is definitely my favorite part of the night. The first week I went it became this incredible collaboration of the most random artists and created this really intense feeling of love. I know everyone in the audience felt inspired. Ill definitely be attending and donating regularly! Soap box gets 10 thumbs up, Im gonna need to borrow a few thumbs!
La (10/2008)- Save yourself the agony! This was without a doubt the worst 'open mic' I've ever been to in my life! And I've been to many, many of them in major cities like Los Angeles, Boston/Cambridge, New York & Philadelphia. The 'host' rambled on & on & on about nonsense, as we waited (freezing outside) while countless amateurs read pseudo-poetry and un-funny 'comedy' from notepads… all of whom were allowed to violate the '7 minute' restriction. After 2 hours and only 12 'performers' (we were #23 on the sign-in list), bogus host Jason declared that everyone would now be limited to only 1 song… then brought up about 10 of his friends/roommates who jammed pure cr*p for about 15 minutes. It took 4 hours to get to us… my singer was shaking from the cold by then. THIS IS THE POOREST EXCUSE FOR AN OPEN MIC I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!! RUN AWAY FROM THIS INSULT TO THE ENTIRE ENTERTAINMENT COMMUNITY!!!!!!!!!

- WOW! I went to this open mic for the first time last night, and it was AMAZING!!! I have lived in Los Angeles for 5 years now, and this is the coolest open mic I have been to out here yet! The people are super inviting, super talented, and the energy is super positive. All around it is a super time!
